What is the bigger picture?

Life as we know it has tremendous possibilities, all within the realm of our physical existence. Challenges at every step of the way, opportunities to grasp, and move ahead. Take what comes in your stride is one way of realizing our potential, others might limit themselves to a more nuanced approach of pick & choose, trying to comprehend the outcomes of the decisions on their future selves. We, as humans, possess this innate and extraordinary ability of mindfulness, of thought, and we try to find what’s best for our survival. Or so we think!

With unparalleled ambition in our veins, we strive for prosperity, excellence, happiness, all within the walls of our body. But, it seldom suffices. Realization dawns that we aren’t as smart as we think of ourselves, rarely as adept at understanding the intricacies of the bigger picture, and we accept our fate. Emotions like hope keep us sane. But what is this bigger picture that we so often misunderstand?

Its all encompassing, and often larger than us. Easier said than done, but letting go of the “bodily me and my desires” goes a long way in getting to terms with the world around us, at first, opening our eyes to suffering, despair. Isn’t this the first step, the piece of the puzzle required towards the path of enlightenment.

Society, therefore, is a good start. Look around us. Aren’t the possibilities manifold now? So much to do, right? Inculcate this seed of thought, share it with your community. Take a step back. Go inside you. Don’t you feel somewhat fulfilled. Prosperity, excellence, happiness all seem to exist now.

Don’t be fooled though. Don’t stop. Be busy. But good busy. Busy with the thought of people, things, materialistic, immaterial, tangible or not. Surround yourself with thoughts. What next, one can ask?

Ain’t it logical to elevate your knowledge now that you are working for greater good. There’s so much to do, so little time. No, there’s a lot of time, I say. You’ve looked at yourself, you’ve looked outside, now its time to look inside. Gaze and learn about the manifestations of your heart, your existence, for greater good. Maybe then, you’ll realize there’s only one picture.
